Dr. Clarke has been a practicing dermatologist since 1972. After many years of private practice in Berkeley, she now practices in Oakland, California. She continues her affiliation with Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley.
 
After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, Dr. Clarke completed one year of graduate study in biochemistry before obtaining her medical degree. After graduation from medical school, she completed an internship, a year of residency in Internal Medicine, and then a three-year residency in Dermatology at New York University.
 
Early in her career, Dr. Clarke worked as a clinical investigator for a cosmetics testing laboratory and served as the medical director of Spectrum Cosmetics. With a background in Internal Medicine and Biochemistry, training in Medical Hypnosis, and an interest in Stress Management and Micronutrition, Dr. Clarks's focus is on disease prevention and the medical treatment of skin disease. Over the years she has become a renowned specialist in her field and she has been listed in Oakland Magazine as one of the East Bay's Top Physicians. She is frequently consulted as an expert by medical writers and has been mentioned in Essence, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, and Vogue magazines.
 
Dr. Clarke is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of several professional organizations, including the Women's Dermatological Association, the San Francisco Dermtological Society, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the California Medical Association. In addition, Dr. Clarke is a member, former trustee, and former Western Regional Chairperson, of the National Medical Association.
