Dr. Clarke has been a practicing dermatologist since 1972. She currently maintains a private practice in Berkeley, California where she is affiliated with Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. Since she began her studies, Dr. Clarke’s primary interest has been Dermatology. Over the years she has become a renowned specialist in her field and in December 2006 Oakland Magazine listed her as one of The East Bay’s Top Physicians.   After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, Dr. Clarke completed one year of graduate study in biochemistry before obtaining her medical degree. After graduation from medical school, she completed an internship and then a three-year residency in Dermatology at New York University.   Early in her career, Dr. Clarke worked as a clinical investigator for a cosmetics testing laboratory and served as the medical director of Spectrum Cosmetics. She is frequently consulted as an expert by medical writers and has been mentioned in Essence, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, Ebony Man, and Vogue magazines.   Dr. Clarke is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of several professional organizations, including the Women’s Dermatological Association, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the California Medical Association. In addition, Dr. Clarke is a member, and former trustee, of the National Medical Association.
